Small Guage Railways

A tourism peculiarity of Wales is its number of small guage railways carrying passengers through areas of scenic beauty in the style of a bygone era. The Brecon Mountain railway about to leave Pontsicill station.

Brecon Mountain Railway



Small guage railway covering the short distance between Pant and Pontsicill, just north of Merthyr Tydfil.

The round trip takes 45 minutes, including a 20 minute stopover in Pontsicill.

The train operates most days from April to October, usually four round trips per day.

Prices (in year 2000) were: Adult 6.20 pounds, child 3.10 pounds.
