Children's Wales

Learning is Hands-On

Events in Wales are not just for spectators.

Many organisers take the view that learning is best achieved by doing - with activities particularly aimed at children.

Hannah learns about falconry with Jasmine the barn owl, under the watchful eye of the Mster of the Mews.

One of the events from the reenactment of the seige of Coity Castle by Owain Glyndŵr.

Wales offers the visitor an incredible variety of attractions - ranging from large national events, such as the Royal Welsh Show (see panel below) to events at local visitor centres whose target audience is mainly local people.

Children stand in the middlepoint of organisers' thinking for so many of these events.

In Wales there is no need for children to get bored during the summer - and with so many events having an educational theme, there is certainly no need for learning to stop over the summer either.

Solar Heating Feeling is believing.

Learning about solar heating is literally a hands-on experience at the Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth.
