Pontypridd and Valleys

Pontypridd's twin - Nürtingen

Nurtingen Nürtingen has a history going back almost a thousand years.

It is a modern city surrounding an historical centre. The 16th century Church of St Laurentius dominates the view.

The "old town" of Nürtingen photographed from the opposite bank of the River Neckar.

Nürtingen is about the same size as Pontypridd and located about the same distance from Stutgart as Pontypridd is from Cardiff.

Many people living in Nürtingen work in Stutgart, although the town itself has a significant amount of industry - mainly the manufature of machines and tools.

Nürtingen's principle historical significance is its association with the poet Friedrich Hölderlin (1770 - 1843) who lived in the town from 1174 to 1805.

Nütingen is very active in the area of twinning. In addition to its partnership with Taff-Ely, it is twinned with Ouillins near Lyons in France and the Hungarian city of Soroksár.
