) has been active in promoting links between the community
of the Council Estate in Penrhys - located between the Rhondda Fawr and
Rhondda Fach - see

Hungary
A link with a community in Monor, outside Budapest, has been established
since the mid 1980s through liason with the Reformed Church of Hungary.
First exchanges took place in the mid 1980s and since 1993 volunteers
from Hungary have come to work with the Pen Rhys community, with each
volunteer staying for about one year.
At present two young people from Pen Rhys are in Hungary staying at the
Reform College of Debrecen, helping students with English Conversation.
Groups of young people from Pen Rhys go to Hungary regularly for short
isits.
Madagascar
The Link has been established with Akany Avoko, a Children's Home run
by the Protestant Federation of Madagascar. Volunteers from Madagascar
stay for one year and it is intended to bring two young women from Akany
Avoko to Pen Rhys for a period of one year.
In September 2000 the Minister of Llanfair, Rev. Dr. John Morgans was
invited to contribut to a Council for World Mission Workshop on Community
Development in Madagascar.

It's estimated popululation is 16 million, 50% of whom are under 16.
75% of the population earn less than $50 per year.
In the past year colera has killed 2000 people and one million people

Burkina Faso
Link between the Café in Penrhys and a Community Café run by women in
Banfora.
It is part of a Millenium Project, On the Line, which links communities
which lie along the Meridian Line.
Burkina Faso (formerly called Upper Volta) lies in West Africa, north of
Ghana.
