The house of the composer Joseph Parry (1841-1903).
Photographs and information about the life of Joseph Parry and the
history of Methyr Tydfil in general. Particular emphasis on the
development of the iron industry.
Joseph Parry reached fame in America and his life was the inspiration
for the romantic novel by Jack Jones, "Off to Philadelphia in the Morning".
The museum is open only at limited times and there is a small admission
charge.
Commissioned in 1824 to be built as a home for the Crawshay family, Cyfarthfa
Castle gives an impression of the life enjoyed by the owners of the works
when the Age of Iron arrived in Merthyr Tydfil.
